Scottsdale, AZ - Bernhard (Bernie) George Kury passed away on 10/23/2025 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Cathy and daughter Pam. Bernie was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1939 and spent his childhood growing up in Union, New Jersey. He attended St. Michael's grade school and Union High School. He attended Clarkson College in Potsdam, New York, where he earned a BS and MS in Civil Engineering and met and married his wife. Upon graduation, he was employed by the Boeing Co. as a software engineer doing structural analysis of missile firings. He continued his career as a software engineer at White Sands Missile Range and for a private contractor in Melbourne, Florida. He spent the majority of his career doing development real-time software for Motorola Inc. in Phoenix, Arizona. Bernie helped with his daughter's activities - coaching and umpiring for Miss Softball and helping with Girl Scouts. He retired from Motorola in July, 1998 and moved to Westminster Village in November of 2015. He enjoyed jogging, playing golf, going to the gym and traveling (especially river cruises). He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and University of Arizona basketball. He was the head of the Westminster Village resident's operations committee for many years helping to improve the facility and presenting entertaining updates at the resident meetings. He made a difference and will be missed.
